About the Coaches,
Freddie and Niki Myles opened the doors of Myles Ahead in January 2005 with two major goals in mind: to build a competitive Weightlifting team and to offer the benefits of weightlifting to individuals of all ages, abilities and goals.
Freddie and Niki are passionate about their sport; they know first-hand what it does for the body and the mind. The two are currently nationally ranked Olympic-style Weightlifters and have been since 2003. They each hold all-time record lifts within the Pacific Weightlifting Association. The coaching they offer is as much about helping clients create and attain goals as it is about providing the highest quality individualized fitness training.
Though Freddie and Niki have long lists of coaching credentials, it is most likely their engagement in the sport and their continual research that makes them such thoughtful and dynamic teachers. In their continual practice of honing weightlifting technique, sharpening focus and setting goals with a keen intent, they have a natural interest in educating and preparing others for competition. Helping others to succeed, especially in a competition setting is a major goal in which they take both pleasure and pride.
Myles Ahead is an original creation, and was the first gym in Sonoma County to offer personalized training in a group setting, to offer technical coaching in Olympic Weightlifting, to implement the Olympic lifts in sports performance training and in fitness training, to offer Weightlifting competitions in Sonoma County, and to offer professional level coaching to athletes of all levels.
