The sport of Weightlifting is truly for everyone. Four age group divisions and fifteen weight classes promote the success of anyone willing to give it their all.

We compete in the
snatch and the clean & jerk. Both lifts involve taking a barbell from the ground and lifting it overhead. (There are many physical benefits of this practice.) We get three attempts for each lift, and get credited with our heaviest lift. The weight of each competitor’s best snatch and best clean & jerk are added together for a total, and the person with the highest total in his or her weight class wins.

While we are not awarded points on technique or style like gymnasts are, the lifts are equally dynamic and beautiful. A seasoned lifter can perform the swift, explosive execution of a snatch or clean & jerk in a way that makes a seemingly heavy weight look truly effortless.

At Myles Ahead we have a strong, competitive Weightlifting team. Our team is comprised of high level, nationally-ranked athletes as well as those who are new to the sport. We compete both individually and as a team. Team points are awarded in a way that favors diversity, so it doesn't matter whether you are male or female, we welcome you--at any age, at any bodyweight.
